Florida Delegation rallies behind Indicted DeLay

Florida's powerful Republican delegation has taken the lead in rallying support to House Majority Leader Tom DeLay who was indicted yesterday in Austin for violations of Texas election law. Miami Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen appeared on CNN's Larry King Live program and defended DeLay as a victim of a partisan witchunt conducted by left wing forces in Texas in coordination with the Democratic leadership in Washington.

In this morning's Florida Today former Florida House Speaker Tom Feeney, a Republican from Oviedo, dismissed the charges leveled against DeLay by Democratic prosecutor Ronnie Earle as the work of a "partisan hatchet man." Brevard County Congressman Dave Weldon added I read the indictment," "The sheer vagueness and absence of any specifics or evidence is appalling."

Hasn't this prosecuter indicted/convicted elected Democrats as well?

Ronny Earle has prosecuted four times as many Democrats as Republicans. Democratic Speaker Jim Wright, whose downfall Gingrich used in 1994 to takeover the Congress, was prosecuted by Ronny Earle.

This prosecution is not a partisan attack, but I hope that the GOP continues to say that it is. DeLay looks so bad and so weak in his defense. Feeney's statements have also made him look so soft.

The GOP is no longer the party of Reagan and John Wayne. It is now the party of limp-wristed Ken Mehlman and other similar softies!

The last I checked, Delay was indicted by a GRAND JURY -- not the PROSECUTOR.

That's the counter to the partisan attack B.S.

The Democrats always want to explain ad nauseum why they're right. The GOP just tells you that they're right.

Just remind people that a group of people just like them indicted Delay.
