Republicans gain in Florida

Lakeland Ledger article. This is yet another indication that voter registration by party is largely meaningless in forecasting political trends. Between 2001 and 2004 Democrats gained voters on the GOP statewide every year and yet lost every statewide election. Now, the GOP is at its lowest point in Florida polls since the mid 1990s despite gaining new voters.

My immediate thought was that the Undecideds determine the outcome, but if you look to last year's Senate race, a majority of Undecideds broke for Castor, yet Martinez won the election. I think the Republicans have just done a better job mobilizing their base and getting their people out to vote. The Democrats, on the other hand, have NO IDEA who their base is.
