Shaw appears destined to lose

Tonight is already proving to be a bad night for moderate Republicans. Nancy Johnson (R-CT) and Charlie Bass (R-NH) trail by large margains to Democratic challengers as does E. Clay Shaw (R-Fort Lauderdale), a 26 year incumbent and leader on the Ways and Means Committee. Shaw has been a good Congresman for his district even if his voting record which is moderate does not please the most extreme Democrats.

The likely winner Ron Klein is someone who is thoughtful and able, but has been backed heavily by Big Sugar in this campaign which should be of concern to all South Floridians. Nonetheless a Klein victory is good news as it brings the Democrats close to a House majority.
